Man Utd fans mock own club after 'Seat of Dreams' unveiled at Old Trafford

Manchester United fans have taken to Twitter to mock the club after a sofa was installed in the Old Trafford stands this week.

The settee was unveiled by United and Marriott on Sunday and will be awarded to four fans at random as a complimentary upgrade to their tickets.

The ‘Seat of Dreams’ gives fans the chance to watch any home match from a point on the half-way line, with complimentary food and drink also included in the package.

But the announcement was not met with enthusiasm by United fans.

Many supporters branded the concept ’embarrassing’, while others could only laugh at their club, claiming the Red Devils are “out of touch” with the fan base.

One supporter wrote: “How out of touch can you get? Keep stuff like this in America where it belongs.

“You’d expect this to be a Paddy Power joke about prawn sandwiches not something actually signed off by the club.”

Another fan added: “State of @ManUtd, embarrassing who ever goes for this, hope someone throws beer over them.”

Other supporters made fun of the ‘Seats of Dreams’, with some suggesting it could be repurposed at Old Trafford.

One fan tweeted: “Stick it in CM, will do a better job than Matic.”

While another added: “Will it face away from the pitch?”

And a number of fans were eyeing up the sofa for a mid-match nap after the disappointing football United have played so far this season.

One supporter wrote: “It’s a shame it faces the pitch. Great place for a nap though…”

While another agreed: “Be a nice place for a kip during a 0-0 draw with Watford.”

“I don’t know about you but I’d just loooove to share a sofa with three strangers for 105 minutes,” added a third fan.

A final fan summarised: “Cringe… so much cringe in one photo.”
