Call of Duty Modern Warfare DOWN: Server status latest on PS4 and Xbox

Call of Duty Modern Warfare has seen its servers turned on and has been hit by a wave of gamers trying to play.

This has led to reports of the new COD game being down and servers not working.

The good news is that this would be expected for any major launch that has a large multiplayer aspect.

The downside is that with a lot of COD fans trying to sign in and play at the same time, there could be patchy service throughout the day.

The official Call of Duty server status site has not posted new information on today’s outage, which appears to be affecting PS4, Xbox One and PC.

So it’s unclear what might be causing issues or how long they might last.

The Connection Error messages fans are seeing are popping up in the UK, United States and across Europe.

Gamers are also pointing out that it appears you need to be online to play the single-player campaign, which does not offer multiplayer options.

It’s easy to guess that it has something to do with the surge of players trying to update and play the game.

It should also be noted that a new update is available to download and includes a lot of changes and tweaks from the earlier betas.

Thousands of reports are being shared on down detector sites, which track massive outages and service problems.

“Why do I need to connect to online services just to play campaign?” one user writes.

Another adds: “Guess they didn’t prepare for this big of a launch… I mean its the best looking CoD (not just graphically) in years.

“So campaign only works in North America, I’m not gonna risk anything I want it to save.”
