Avengers Infinity War theory: ‘Loki ALIVE' as he was replaced by his 'ALTERNATE' self

Avengers Infinity War opened to a truly shocking scene, as Thanos (played by Josh Brolin) strangled Loki (Tom Hiddleston) to death. While the god of mischief did appear in Avengers Endgame, it was his 2012 alternate self. This version of Loki’s past self managed to escape the Avengers after the Battle of New York with the Tesseract. And in 2021, what happened next to the Marvel character will be revealed in his very own Disney Plus show.

But now a popular new fan theory claims that it was this alternate Loki who died in Avengers Infinity War, while the main timeline’s one is still out there alive.

Reddit user ak2sup writes: “Loki’s line ‘[The] sun will shine on us again’ from Infinity War meant more than we think.

“[The] Loki we saw in Infinity War wasn’t main Loki but 2012 Loki who escaped with [the] Tesseract during [Avengers] Endgame.

“After he escaped with [the] Tesseract, whatever he does will be shown in his upcoming Disney Plus TV series.

“[At] the end of that series Loki somehow [found out] about [the] main timeline and travel[led] to this universe using [the] Tesseract.

“He then replaced himself with main Loki on [the] Asgardian ship allowing main Loki to escape.”

They added: “That’s why he came out again after disappearing during [the] Hulk-Thanos fight, to save Thor.

“Him stabbing Thanos with a dagger was not a smart move because he was from an alternate timeline where he had not much experience and knowledge about Thanos.

“Actually we never saw main Loki after Thor Ragnarok’s mid-credit scene.

“The whole Infinity War opening showed 2012 alternate Loki and main Loki is still out there.

“The line “sun will shine on us again” was implying [the] Avengers’ victory against Thanos in [Avengers] Endgame because Loki saw [the] Avengers [using] time travel in 2012.”

Meanwhile, an alleged leak may confirm that Loki will feature in Thor Love and Thunder.

According to FandomWire’s acquired production longline: “[Loki] follows Loki after the events in Avengers Endgame as the trickster uses the power of the Tesseract to travel throughout human history and change historical events.”

Apparently, after this he ends up arriving just in time for Thor Love and Thunder and with Thor’s hammer Mjolnir no less.

If true, this is particularly exciting since Mjolnir was destroyed in the main MCU timeline by Hela in Thor Ragnarok.

Loki streams of Disney Plus in Spring 2021, while Thor: Love and Thunder is released on November 5, 2021.
