Arsenal boss Unai Emery had a busy summer but he is reportedly already planning his January business.
Emery brought the likes of Dani Ceballos, Nicolas Pepe, David Luiz and Kieran Tierney to the club over the summer.
But poor form has continued, especially in defence, with Tierney yet to gain full fitness and a regular spot in Emery’s starting team.
And with the Gunners struggling at the back, The Sun report that they will now make another move for RB Leipzig star Dayot Upamecano.
Arsenal reportedly failed with a bid for the youngster in the summer but Emery remains keen on the centre-back.
And with his contract expiring at the end of next season, it’s believed a bid of £40million may be enough to tempt Leipzig to sell.
Emery does have William Saliba in his ranks however he is spending the season on loan at St Etienne.
Gunners fans were excited at the prospect of signing Upamecano recently after a picture of the star alongside Matteo Guendouzi emerged.
It came during the international break with both players part of the France Under-21 squad.
One wrote on social media at the time: “Guendouzi & Upamecano are always together, hopefully we see that at the Arsenal soon”
Another added: “Please let this happen. The thought of Saliba, Upamecano, Holding, and Chambers holding down our CB pairing for years to come is incredible.”
Arsenal suffered defeat in their most recent Premier League match, beaten 1-0 at Sheffield United.
That dropped the Gunners out of the top four and they will hope to return to winning ways against Vitoria in the Europa League on Thursday.
