Michael Jordan Doesn’t Think Steph Curry Is A Hall Of Famer And Fans Are Losing Their Minds

The 2019-2020 NBA season tips off on Tuesday, and fans are already losing their minds over Michael Jordan’s recent statement about Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry. The GOAT told Craig Melvin on The Today Show that Curry is “not a Hall of Famer yet,” and the statement hasn’t gone over well.

During the interview, Melvin asked asked the 56-year-old former Chicago Bull about four guys that he would choose for a pick-up game of basketball, and he pointed out that six years ago Jordan’s answer to that question was Hakeem Olajuwon, James Worthy, Magic Johnson, and Scottie Pippen. Melvin then asked if he would keep the same four, considering all of the great talent in the league at the moment.

“In a heartbeat, when I’m going in the trenches,” said Jordan. “I played against and with all these guys. I’m going with who I know. Every single night. That responsibility to go out there and represent greatness. Every single night.”

After hearing his answer, Melvin asked if Steph Curry should be offended, and Jordan said he hoped not, and then added that he’s a great player, but not a Hall of Famer – yet.

Jordan was smiling during his answer, but many fans took it as throwing shade at the six-time NBA all-star. Curry’s fans flooded social media to voice their unhappiness with Jordan’s answer, with one asking what Jordan was smoking. Another fan said that if Curry retired today, he would be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Magic Johnson eventually then took to Twitter to calm everyone down. The Los Angeles Lakers legend wrote that everyone should relax. And, he added that we all know Curry is a future Hall of Famer, but MJ couldn’t say that because the league would fine him.

There were fans who agreed with Jordan. One wrote that Curry could possibly be a Hall of Famer one day, but he is not even close to being one of the ten best players of all time. Another fan noted that the only thing Curry can do is shoot.

Steph Curry is a two-time league MVP and he has led the warriors to three NBA championships. However, he will have to wait until at least three years after he retires to find out if he really is a Hall of Famer.
