Galatasaray vs Real Madrid match preview: Prediction, team news, injuries and line up

Real Madrid will travel to Istanbul on Tuesday to play Galatasaray in the third matchday of the Champions League.

The Spanish side have had a rough start to the European tournament, finding themselves at the bottom of Group A.

They have only picked up one point from their two Champions League fixtures thus far – the same as their hosts.

Tonight’s clash is the seventh Champions League meeting between Galatasaray and Los Blancos and the first since the 2013/14 group stage.

Galatasaray team news and injuries

Radamel Falcao’s fitness is the main talking point surrounding Galatasaray’s team selection on Tuesday night.

The Colombian striker has been struggling to overcome an Achilles issue.

He has missed his team’s last four matches with the problem, although there is a small chance he could be involved against Real.

Mario Lemina is out with a thigh injury, while Emre Akbaba is not expected to return until 2020 after breaking his leg in May.

Christian Luyindama was not involved for DR Congo over the international break due to a thigh problem, however, he featured for much of the clash against Sivasspor on Friday night and should start.

Real Madrid team news and injuries

Real come into the game on the back of a humiliating defeat away to RCD Mallorca on Saturday.

The worst scenario would be a defeat for Madrid, and three points for Club Brugge against Group A leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

That would leave the Belgian side second with five points and PSG top with six.

The Spanish side are in the midst of a mild injury crisis, with Nacho, Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Marco Asensio among those on the treatment table.

However, Toni Kroos has returned to the squad and could start alongside Casemiro and Federico Valverde in central midfield.

Dani Carvajal and Eden Hazard were both left out of the squad for the Mallorca clash, but the pair will return for the trip to Turkey.

Hazard was unavailable following the birth of his fourth child on Friday night.

Predicted line up

Galatasaray possible starting XI: Muslera; Mariano, Donk, Marcao, Nagatomo; N’Zonzi, Seri; Feghouli, Belhanda, Babel; Andone.

Real Madrid possible starting XI: Courtois; Carvajal, Ramos, Varane, Marcelo; Casemiro, Rodriguez, Valverde; Isco, Benzema, Hazard.

What time does Galatasaray vs Real Madrid kick off?

Galatasaray vs Real Madrid will kick off at the Turk Telekom Stadium at 8pm on Tuesday, October 22.

Our prediction

Both teams will head into the match confident of picking up a positive result.

Although it would not be a surprise to see a draw at the Turk Telekom Stadium, Los Blancos should be able to pick up the important three points.
