Andy Murray makes personal joke about pregnant wife Kim when asked about growing family

Andy Murray couldn’t help but make a joke about his pregnant wife after winning his first tournament since March 2017.

The 32-year-old beat Stan Wawrinka in Antwerp to cap a remarkable comeback from injury which saw him nearly call time on his career.

During his interview, he was asked whether he was looking forward to getting back home to his family.

“I’ve got two young kids and a third one coming,” Murray explained.

“I’ll have three kids under four years old.

“When I’ve been off the tour the last few years my family has got bigger.

“I need to get on the road so we’re done before it gets out of control!

“I’m excited for the third kid, my wife has been a huge support in getting me back on the court.

“She’s helped me fight to keep playing.”

Murray had explained before the tournament that a key reason behind his decision to play was that Belgium is not too far from home.

“The main reason is that it’s the closest tournament to home for me and my wife is quite pregnant right now,” said Murray on Monday.

“The last time I was in this situation (2016) I found myself in Australia and I didn’t want to be in that position

It’s been a whirlwind year for Murray, who broke down in tears ahead of the Australian Open in January, explaining he could quit the sport due to his injury problems.

He has soldiered on through the pain barrier though, winning the doubles with Feliciano Lopez at Queens.

Now his efforts have been rewarded with individual glory, and he may not be done just yet.
