Inside Rafael Nadal and Xisca Perella's wedding as Juan Carlos I joins fellow guests

Rafael Nadal and Xisca Perella have been joined by a star-studded line up of guests as they prepare to get married in Majorca today.

The 33-year-old tennis star and his partner of 14 years are surrounded by family and friends as they get set to tie the knot.

Juan Carlos I, the former King of Spain, was spotted arriving at the La Fortaleza property, which is owned by Conservative party donor Lord Lupton.

The former regent, who abdicated in 2014, is a long-time friend of Nadal and waved to awaiting crowds as he arrived for the nuptials.

He was closely followed by Carlos Moya, who is a member of the backroom staff hoping to guide Nadal as he seeks to equal Roger Federer’s haul of 20 Grand Slam titles.

Federer will not be one of the 350 guests expected to attend the no-expense spared wedding, which is taking place at the estate where the BBC’s 2016 thriller The Night Manager was filmed.

However, a host more tennis stars of past and present will be there to witness Nadal and his bride saying, “I do”.

Nadal’s compatriot Feliciano Lopez was caught on camera arriving at the venue with his wife, Sandra Gago.

Recently retired Spanish tennis ace David Ferrer also showed up with his wife, Marta Tornel.

Former Argentinian tennis player Juan Monaco was snapped, having been invited alongside his girlfriend, Diana Arnopoulous.

Nadal’s Uncle Toni, who used to coach him and now runs his tennis academy in Majorca, was spotted in Majorca too.

Richard Mille, the founder of the eponymous luxury watchmaking brand, wore a bright blue suit as he rocked up for the wedding.

Nadal is not the first world-famous sport star to take the plunge and commit their life to their partner at La Fortaleza this year.

Back in June, Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale tied the knot with childhood sweetheart Emma Rhys-Jones there, without any of his club-mates in attendance.

Basketball player Rudy Fernandez and Spanish model Helen Lindes also got hitched at La Fortaleza in July 2015. Guests included Spanish NBA star Pau Gasol.

For Nadal’s wedding, Michelin-starred Majorcan chef Macarena de Castro is said to have given the task of devising a menu quite literally fit for a king.
