According to Netflix, there are eight films which have really impressed fans – so much so they have become the most-watched original movies on the platform.

Bird Box

Bird Box was a highly anticipated horror movie, released in 2018, starring Sandra Bullock in a post-apocalyptic world.

The thriller saw Bullock lead two children on a terrifying journey to escape a dreaded presence which inspired those who looked upon it to kill themselves.

The movie was watched by more than 45million accounts in its first week on the service, which is no mean feat, and it gained 80million views in its first four weeks.

Murder Mystery

This film saw the reunion of Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler, the first film they had done together since 2011 rom-com Just Go With It.

The movie was released in July 2019 and has already amassed 73million views worldwide in just four weeks, which is incredibly impressive.

Sandler signed up to a four-film deal with Netflix in 2017, so fans will no doubt be treated to more of his comic stylings.

Triple Frontier

Ben Affleck and Oscar Isaac star in this high-budget movie, which reportedly cost $115million to make.

The action-adventure film sees a group of US Army Delta Force soldier who plan a heist job together to outwit a South American crime lord.

The movie was view 52million times in its first month of release, which is as epic as the major money spent on the movie.

The Perfect Date

The 2019 film Perfect Date was watched by 48million accounts in four weeks, according to Netflix.

The teen comedy starred new talent Noah Centineo, who starred in Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before and was critically acclaimed for his performance.

The Perfect Date sees a young man pose as a boyfriend to his classmate’s wealthy cousin, and despite the pair being from different world, they finally find love through a world of obstacles.

Tall Girl

The lesser known film, Tall Girl, was watched by 41million in its first month on Netflix.

Tall Girl starred Ava Michelle as Jodi Greyyman, a 16-year-old who is self-conscious about her height, as she is 6 ft 1 in.

The movie was produced by well-known director and producer, McG.

Secret Obsession

Secret Obsession, according to Netflix, was watched by 40million households in its first four weeks on Netflix.

The movie starring Brenda Song, sees a young woman recovering from a car accident, dealing with amnesia.

Her “husband” Russell (Mike Vogel) tries to help her and takes her to their secluded home, but soon she begins to realise things are not as they seem.

Always Be My Maybe

Randall Park and Ali Wong star in the rom-com which amassed 32million views in its first four weeks.

The movie even stars a cameo performance from Keanu Reeves playing himself – something loved by fans.

Always Be My Maybe follows childhood friends who have not been in touch since an awkward teenage film reunite, and their chemistry is clear though their circumstances are very different.

Otherhood

Otherhood stars a powerhouse of strong women, Angela Bassett, Patricia Arquette and now controversial figure Felicity Huffman.

The trio of mothers feel forgotten by their children and try to find themselves, a story appealing to those in similar positions who use the platform.

The film was watched by 29million accounts in its first month of streaming, meaning it is the eighth best performing film.

Some TV series have actually performed better than movies, with 105million accounts thing in for at least one episode of Orange Is The New Black – the most watched original series ever.
