Jenna Dewan is currently in a happy relationship with Steve Kazee, and the couple is expecting their first child together. But, the World of Dance star reveals in her new book that when she found out her estranged husband Channing Tatum was dating Australian singer Jessie J, she was so “blindsided” by the news, she wrote some angry tweets.
In her new book Gracefully You: Finding Beauty and Balance in the Everyday, Dewan writes that she was “alone” when she found out that Tatum – her husband of ten years – started dating Jessie J just six months after their separation.
The dancer explained that she didn’t find out the information in advance and in private. Instead, she heard the news just like everyone else when it broke in the media, and that was extremely “difficult” for her.
“There I was, on a plane, alone, finding out about his new relationship,” the 38-year-old wrote. “I felt blindsided.”
Dewan also revealed that she wrote some angry tweets after finding out her ex had moved on so quickly, but she decided not to post them. She says that instead of reacting the way she wanted to, she stopped and asked herself, “How do I choose grace in this moment?”
The news of Tatum’s new relationship came around the same time that Dewan filed for divorce – in October 2018. Dewan and Tatum announced their split in April 2016. The former couple’s divorce has not yet been finalized, but they have filed to become legally single with a bifurcation.
Just like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, both Dewan and Tatum want to bifurcate their relationship status, which means that while they continue to work on a financial settlement and come to an agreement on custody of their daughter, Everly, 6, they will be legally single and able to marry other people.
Dewan told People Magazine recently that when she fell for Kazee she had just emerged from her “grief tunnel” following her split from Tatum. She said that she had to come to terms with accepting the start of a new life, but she had no idea what she was looking for.
Even though she wasn’t looking for a new relationship, she ended up reconnecting with Kazee. Jenna Dewan says the relationship wasn’t something she was looking for, but it was everything she needed.
