Legacies season two picks up on the supernatural story once again as the characters deal with more otherworldly threats. Starring a mix of actors from original series The Vampire Diaries and The Originals along with a cast of new stars, there are a number of familiar faces in the show. Here’s everything fans need to know about the actors in series and where you might have seen them before.
Who is in the cast of Legacies season 2?
Hope Mikaelson – Danielle Rose Russell
The second season is led once again by Danielle Rose Russell as Hope Mikaelson.
She was a major recurring character in The Originals as the ‘tribrid’ daughter of Klaus Mikaelson (Joseph Morgan).
The new series picked up with her after she dove into Malivore pit to stop the rise of the golem.
Legacies marks the young actor’s first leading role in a television show but fans may also recognise her for playing Darla Miner in The Last Tycoon.

Alaric Saltzman – Matthew Davis
Matthew Davis plays Alaric Saltzman who is the founder of the Salvatore Boarding School for the Young & Gifted.
He originally started out in The Vampire Diaries as a history teacher before he went on to become a vampire hunter.
After a traumatic series of events that left him being inhabited by an Original vampire before he became a ghost, the character returned once again in the new series.
Season two began with Saltzman forgetting who Hope is after she is exiled into the Malivore pit.
Speaking about the dynamic this creates, showrunner Julie Plec told TV Guide: “His relationship with Hope is such a great Giles-Buffy dynamic, and when left to his own devices, without her as his co-captain, I wanted to see what that looked like.”
Alongside The Vampire Diaries, Davis has starred in a number of films and is probably best known as Warner in Legally Blonde.

Josie Saltzman – Kaylee Bryant
Alaric’s two twin daughters also feature in the show as students at the school.
This includes Josie Saltzman who is played by actor Kaylee Bryant in The CW series.
Bryant has also appeared in Netflix series Santa Clarita Diet and long-running procedural Criminal Minds.
Landon Kirby – Aria Shahghasemi
After first appearing in The Originals, Landon Kirby went on to become a main character in Legacies.
He is a phoenix, which is a rare supernatural species that was originally not known to exist.
Before landing his role on The CW show, Shahghasemi guest-starred in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

Sebastian – Thomas Doherty
A new character in this season of the show is Sebastian who is played by actor Thomas Doherty.
He is a vampire who heads into town intent on stirring things up for the cast of characters.
The new character has been teased as similar to The Vampire Diaries leading man Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder).
Lizzie Saltzman actor Jenny Boyd told TV Guide: “Lizzie develops feelings for him very quickly.
“He’s kind of an Ian Somerhalder type — smoldery, old-school guy — so that’s definitely her jam… He’s a little bit ‘Smolderhalder’ 2.0.”

Freya Mikaleson – Riley Voelkel
A familiar face set to appear in season two is Hope’s aunt Freya Mikaleson (Riley Voelkel).
Voelkel starred in television series The Originals for a number of years before the show came to an end in 2018.
Her return to the Vampire Diaries universe was revealed by TV Guide who teased she would guest star in the second outing.
Voelkel has also appeared in a number of well-known television series, including Roswell, New Mexico, American Horror Story and The Newsroom.
Legacies airs weekly on Thursdays on The CW.
