Louise Minchin: 'Notice anything?' BBC Breakfast star teases fans with co-star Dan Walker

Louise Minchin, 51, posted a photo of herself and co-presenter Dan Walker, 42, on the BBC Breakfast sofa, but all was not as it seemed.

In the photo posted to her social channels, the presenter left fans guessing what might be different.

She joked: “Good morning, notice anything different apart from the fact Dan Walker is smiling?”

The picture showed the presenter wearing glasses and the BBC studio sporting a new backdrop.

It didn’t take Twitter users long before they started to list their guesses as to what she could be talking about.

One user noticed the presenter was wearing glasses: “Glad to see Louise looking after her eye health! Be able to see the autocue better …less wrinkles.”

“New spectacles? Different backdrop? Looking great by the way morning all,” another commented.

Another said: “New backdrop at last! Why you never had it in the first place was beyond me… were the BBC ashamed of Salford? MediaCity is amazing… be proud of it.”

Without confirmation, fans had to assume their guesses were correct but were glad to see MediaCity behind the sofa.

Louise returned to the BBC breakfast show last week after putting her endurance levels to the test when she competed in a ‘swimrun’ in the Lake District that weekend.

She revealed it was going to take her a “while” to recover from the gruelling competition which consisted of nine swims and nine runs.

The BBC host shared pictures of herself on Twitter and said it’s one of the “toughest” races she’s ever done.

Alongside a picture of herself holding her medal, she wrote: “Good morning, how are you all doing?

“It’s going to take me a while to recover from yesterday’s epic swim/run but the pizza definitely helped,” she joked.

Louise also posted a snap to her 34,500 Instagram followers, revealing she was wearing trainers in the studio due to her “sore toes”.

She said: “Good morning, sneaking my trainers on @bbcbreakfast as I have very sore toes post @brecaswimrun !! Ouch ouchy ouch.”

She thanked supporters for turning up and helping her along the way: “I think I may have done my toughest race ever @BrecaSwimrun #coniston 9 x swims 9 x runs in incredible landscape with brilliant volunteers 48k on the watch,” she said.

This isn’t Louise’s first sporting event as she frequently pushes herself to compete in numerous competitions.

In August earlier this year the presenter completed one of the world’s most brutal triathlons – the Norseman, held in Norway.

“I am a bit broken but I am officially a Norseman and over the moon to be the proud owner of a white t-shirt,” she said, reflecting on the competition.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays on BBC One from 6am.
