AJ Pritchard: Strictly 2019 pro ‘completely fine’ after pics appeared to show him crying

AJ Pritchard, 24, took to Instagram this afternoon to reassure fans that he was “completely fine” following pictures in the press that appeared to show him crying.

The Strictly Come Dancing 2019 professional dancer was photographed with his hands across his face as he left the It Takes Two studio last night with his dance partner Saffron Barker, 19.

Sporting a casual red hoodie and black trousers, AJ could be seen pushing a silver suitcase and carrying props in his hands.

Saffron matched her partner in casual attire, sporting a white T-shirt, black leggings and trainers.

Other pictures showed AJ in the back of a car with a worried expression his face.

The Latin and ballroom champion told his 615,000 followers that it was the camera flashes that caused him to cover his eyes.

He shared a picture showing the headline of an online article which read: “Crying Shame: Strictly’s AJ Pritchard looks devastated as he leaves It Takes Two with Saffron Baker” on his Instagram Stories.

He captioned the image: “Hey Guys, I am completely fine… Not good with camera flashes.”

The popular television personality then appeared with the social media star to shed more light on the pictures.

AJ simply said: “Guys…I just didn’t like the camera flash…just covering my face.”

Saffron interjected: “I looked like I was laughing at him crying, but what happen was, he was like, imagine if someone took a picture and I was crying.”

“Looks like I am scared of a water bottle,” the dancer then remarked about the picture in the car.

AJ and Saffron are back in the training room today after impressing the judges and viewers at home with their contemporary dance routine on Saturday night’s show.

The pro dancer said he was “over the moon to be through to next week”.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 6.40pm.
