Coronation Street and Emmerdale cancelled: ITV soaps won't air in schedule shake-up

Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans are eager to know what’s been going on with the character’s of the popular evening dramas. However, they will have to wait a little longer for the updates as both the ITV soaps are replaced this evening.

The last time viewers were treated to drama from Weatherfield was Wednesday and with the soap set to return to it’s usual time slot this week, it means fans have had to wait seven days for their next dose of the action.

Luckily for followers of the show’s rival soap, they last got their glimpse of the action from the ever-dramatic villager on Thursday, with the storyline continuing to play out from tomorrow night.

This means both editions of the hugely popular soaps have been missing from schedules for four consecutive nights.

Sports fans may be little more enthused by the break from the fictional dramas as the time slots have been filled by coverage of England facing their opponents in the UEFA 2020 qualifiers.

Tonight’s game will see the country take on host nation Bulgaria, with coverage starting from 7pm as the pundits discuss the game to come.

Kick-off won’t actually begin until 7.45pm at the Vasil Levski National Stadium in the capital city of the the opposing team, Sofia.

Friday’s match saw England defeated by rivals the Czech Republic, so the players will be hoping to gain better ground this evening.

With the qualifying schedule se to continue next month, viewers could face yet more disruptions to their soap afflictions in the coming weeks.

Over in Weatherfield, the Tinkers and Barlows will come together as beloved Sinead Tinker (played by Katie McGlynn) makes her heartbreaking exit from the cobbles.

The character was dealt devastating recently when she was told her cancer had returned, with the diagnosis being terminal.

With the tragic news lingering over their short-time left together, the departing star’s husband Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard) will bid farewell to his wife when she passes away.

There are more twists yet to come, as actress Katie, 26, recently told OK!: “Everyone assumes that it’s just going to be a peaceful death, and it is but there’s always drama leading up to it.”

It seems death could be on the horizon for more than one character over in Emmerdale as Moria Barton’s (Natalie J Robb) affair with Nate Robinson (Jurrell Carter) finally comes to light.

After discovering the infidelity, the farmer’s husband Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) will set plans in motion to get his revenge.

The village bad boy is known for his abrupt behaviour and volatile nature, so it’s fair to say a few punches could be thrown.

As the trio find themselves on a boat in the middle of a lake, an explosion rips through the vessel, but will anyone make it out alive?

Coronation Street continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV. Emmerdale continues Tuesday at 7pm on ITV.
