Zoe Ball: ‘My kids will be embarrassed’ BBC Radio 2 and Strictly host addresses remark

Zoe Ball, 48, was joined on the sofa with Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara, 35, and her celebrity dance partner Will Bayley, 31. The presenter discussed the dancing duo’s Paso Doble routine which scored a respectable 23 points from the judging panel. Zoe said: “A lot of love online. A Twitter user said ‘How Will and Janette kept straight faces during that Paso I’ll never know! Was legit one of the best things I’ve seen on Strictly’”. Seemingly taken aback of using the phrase “legit” to describe the pair’s routine, the radio DJ admitted her kids would be displeased with her making the remark.

She added: “Did I just say legit on telly…my kids will be so embarrassed.”

Zoe shares her two children Woody and Nelly with former husband Norman Cook.

The It Takes Two presenter then went onto discuss Janette and Will’s routine in more detail.

“The judges were talking about your strength in this dance. You did say it was quite a tough week,” Zoe explained.

“Did you think at the beginning of the week you’d be able to deliver something that strong?”

Paralympian Will replied: “Not really. I think I done a lot better than we thought.”

Last weekend, the Olympic tennis table professional and his dance partner Janette received mixed feedback from the judges about the performance.

The pair chained Pikachu and Ash for the Movie Week theme.

“Oh, you attacked it like a demon!” Bruno Tonioli remarked. “Fire, passion, aggression which is all correct for the Paso Doble.

“But, you can do artistry as well; when you do your shaping, don’t mash it all the time. Sometimes you can link it and stretch it a bit more.”

Head judge Shirley Ballas was last to comment saying: “It had a lot of power, it was also very staccato.

“I would have liked to see continuous body movement throughout the shapes you were making, and I agree with Bruno, you could also now go into a little but more artistry and flow. But a very good try.”
