Susanna Reid: ‘I always missed that relationship’ GMB host speaks candidly about her rock

Susanna Reid said her real rocks nowadays are her Good Morning Britain colleagues, Kate Garraway and Charlotte Hawkins. The ITV broadcaster said her co-stars were like sisters to her, as she said that is what she lacked as a teenager. The 48-year-old spoke candidly about growing up in her column for the Daily Mail, saying she also has a “good friend” in Piers Morgan. The mother-of-three said there is “such solidarity there” when it comes to the three of them, after she joined the morning show in 2014.

Susanna wrote: “We often talk about how female colleagues are the closest you come to having a sister.

“I have a half-sister, but she’s 20 years younger than me, so I always missed that relationship when I was growing up. I’d have loved someone to get ready to go out with and borrow clothes from.”

The star is the youngest of her parents’ three children, with her mother and father splitting when she was nine.

The journalist continued: “But now Kate, Charlotte and I do all that. Well, we don’t do wardrobe raids, but we have the same stylist, and Kate uses my dressing room.

“Though she puts pictures of it online and it’s so embarrassing — like a wardrobe explosion!”

And, despite their on-air spats, Susanna said she can also turn to Piers, 54, despite his argumentative ways.

She added: “He’s bl**dy-minded, stubborn, controversial and bullish. But, eventually, we found a way to work together, and now he’s a really good friend.

“I turn to him for advice because he’s always got an interesting perspective.”

Susanna split from her partner, former sports correspondent Dominic Cotton in 2014, after 16 years together.

The former couple have three sons together, and she has since gone on to date Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish.

Last week Susanna Reid revealed her boys don’t sleep at her house following a split admission.

Meanwhile, it comes just days after shared two snaps of herself with her 412,000 Instagram followers.

She was seen at 4am and 6am in two photos side-by-side, seemingly before she went live on GMB.

Susanna captioned it simply: “You’ve got to fake it to make it… today’s column link in bio @dailymail.”

Amongst the comments was one by Katie Piper, who told her: “Brilliant article.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
