Zoe Ball responds as Rylan Clark-Neal stunned by Strictly guest's jibe 'How dare you?'

Zoe Ball, 48, and Rylan Clark-Neal, 30, joined forces for the bumper edition of Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two this evening.

The pair were joined by Friday panel Tom Allen, 36, Nicki Chapman, 52, and Richard Osman, 48, to share their thoughts on the contestants’ progress.

Things took a hilariously awkward turn, however, when Zoe pointed out that Nicki had never been on the show before, saying: “Nicki, your first Friday panel, welcome! What took you so long?”

Coughing sarcastically, Nicki murmured: “I wasn’t invited…”

Rylan’s jaw dropped as he clutched his chest in surprise, exclaiming: “How dare you?”

His co-star, meanwhile, replied through the studio audience’s “Oohs”: “But you’re on now, gorgeous.”

“Ohh Nicki, what a terrible start!” comedian Tom joked.

“But so excited,” Nicki added. “I’m delighted to be here.

“It is the ultimate show to be on, though, so thank you!”

Whereas Nicki was making her debut on Strictly’s spin-off show, both Tom and Richard have featured on the panel in previous years.

Elsewhere on It Takes Two, AJ Pritchard and Saffron Barker’s routine was decimated by Tom as he said Contemporary wasn’t “proper dancing”.

“What is Contemporary dancing?” he asked. “We can all shake our bum against a wardrobe, like it’s not proper dancing is it?”

The pair are doing their Contemporary Couple’s Choice performance to Because You Loved Me by Celine Dion.

However, he also praised YouTube star Saffron, saying: “She’s been very good. I like Saffron, I like her a lot.”

Earlier this week, Rylan was left to host It Takes Two on his own when Zoe was struck down with a nasty bout of flu.

The presenter was forced to take time off from both her BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show and Strictly duties in order to recover.

She returned to work yesterday, taking the helm back in order to interview several of this year’s contestants and pros.

Zoe previously tweeted about her condition, telling her 341,000 followers: “Flippin heck. Don’t get flu it’s a nasty b***er.”

She also thanked her replacements who stood in for her on BBC Radio 2 and It Takes Two, adding: “Sorry for absence. Honestly can’t wait to be back.”

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One. It Takes Two continues Monday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
