xXx star Deepika Padukone hits back at rumours: 'Absolutely not, I think it's SAD'

She is the highest-paid actress in Bollywood. Over here, Deepika is probably best known for the xXx movie franchise with Vin Diesel. As well as being a major box office draw, the star is a major advocate for women’s rights and human rights issues in Indian society. Previously, she slammed other Bollywood stars for not doing enough with their privilege and platform. Now she has spoken out again.

There has been intense speculation over the past few months about her marriage to Ranveer Singh.

Namely, whether or not they are expecting their first child.

Deepika fuelled the rumours by joking “Hi daddy” in a public chat online and fans seized on this as a coded message about pregnancy.

The star has finally publicly made some very strong comments on the subject, according to Hindustan Times.

DEEPIKA PADUKONE BLASTS OTHER BOLLYWOOD STARS

Deepika said: “I think it’s sad that society kind of puts itself and people in this rut that, ‘Okay, you are dating for so long, so when will marriage happen? And children after marriage and then grandchildren.

“It’s almost like it’s the expectation.

“I’m not surprised (by the rumours), we’re not surprised by it at all.

“Do we intend on having children? Of course we do, we both love kids. But do we intend on having children anytime soon?”

“Absolutely not! We’re too selfishly at this point focused on our careers and I don’t think it would be fair to have kids at this point.

“We’re not even thinking about kids.”

Deepika’s busy career includes upcoming movies Padmaavat, ’83 and the Sapna Didi project about the notorious Mumbai crime queen.
