Rebekah Vardy receives horrific abuse in aftermath of Coleen Rooney’s public accusation

Rebekah Vardy, 37, found herself on the wrong side of a social media battle with Coleen Rooney, 33, yesterday after she reportedly identified the former’s Instagram account of leaking information to the press.

The Leicester City player’s wife has revealed she has since received horrific abuse from trolls in the aftermath of the online row, saying they’ve even targeted her unborn baby.

The pregnant WAG has profusely denied the claims in her own statement and was upset that Coleen, wife of former England captain Wayne Rooney, didn’t come to her first: “As I have just said to you on the phone, I wish you had called me if you thought this,” she responded on Twitter.

Currently pregnant which her fifth child, Rebekah shared some of the backlash she has received since yesterday’s explosive outbreak.

Posting to her Instagram story, she shared an expletive filled message that one troll had one sent her.

She shared the name of the user and wrote: “….well played” alongside it.

According to the Mirror, Rebekah’s legal team have now launched an IT investigation to try to prove her innocence.

In Rebekah’s statement to her 106,900 Twitter followers, she was adamant she wasn’t the leak: “I never speak to anyone about you as journalists who have asked me to over the years can vouch,” she said.

The online exchange sparked a social media frenzy with fans discussing which WAG’s side they’re on and pondering whether Rebekah had done this money.

This conclusion was quickly shut down in the rest of Rebekah’s post.

“I’m not being funny but I don’t need the money, what would I gain from selling stories on you?

”I liked you a lot Coleen and I’m so upset that you have chosen to do this, especially when I’m heavily pregnant.”

“I’m disgusted that I’m even having to deny this,” she said.

A source close to Coleen said she was “inconsolable” not least because it’s turned out to be one of her friends who has been informing the press of her private moments.

The insider added: “She has had to cope with this throughout pregnancies and household turmoil.”

The mum-of-four said she’s spent the past five months working out who could have been passing information from her private life to the press by blocking everyone’s account but Rebekah’s.

In the post to her 1.3 million Twitter followers, Coleen described how she finally got to the bottom of the scandal that she claimed had been “a burden on her life.”

“For years now someone who I trusted to follow me on my personal Instagram account has been consistently informing The Sun newspaper of my private posts and stories.”

“Over the past five months I have posted a series of false stories to see if they made their way into the newspaper. And you know what, they did!”

“I have saved and screen-shotted all the original stories which clearly show just one person has viewed them,” before revealing: “It’s… Rebekah Vardy’s account.”
