Joe Sugg: 'Why do you call me that?' Dianne Buswell's boyfriend on co-star's major gaffe

Joe Sugg, 28, and Kim Winston host the Strictly Come Dancing podcast together, giving fans a backstage pass to the studios and revealing all the latest news and gossip.

During their latest show together, she jokingly quizzed her co-star about what his real name is, after hearing something very strange.

“What is your actual name?” Kim quizzed Joe.

“My name’s Joe or Joseph,” he answered.

The YouTube sensation went on to reveal professional dancer on Strictly Come Dancing, Aljaz Skorjanec, has always called him a different name ever since they met on the show last year.

“Aljaz is an incredible dancer, an incredible human being but he’s not good at remembering my name,” Joe laughed.

The reality star went on: “He has called me Jonathan since I think week two last year and it’s just never changed.

“It’s like Only Fools and Horses when Trigger calls Rodney, Dave.”

He continued: “It’s like that, I have become one of these things.”

Joe, who is in a relationship with his professional partner from last year, Dianne Buswell, said he has “no idea” where Aljaz got the name Jonathan from.

“He’s always called me Jonathan, I have no idea why,” Joe said.

Kim asked: “Have you never said to him, that’s not my name?”

He replied: “Yeah, I say, ‘Why do you call me that?’ He laughs and carries on with what he’s doing!”

Joe and Kim have been producing shows for their podcast since this year’s series began.

On a recent episode, he got a little telling off from head judge, Shirley Ballas, who told him to get his “act together”.

Joe’s co-star, Kim, told Shirley he’s “desperate” to dance the Rhumba, after missing out on performing it on last year’s Strictly Come Dancing.

But Shirley joked “he’s not that desperate” as she said she’s waiting on him to call her and book an appointment.

The head judge told last year’s contestant: “I think you’re a little bit nervous actually, you’ve been promising to call, you have not got your act together young man.

“I’m still here growing cobwebs waiting for you.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One at 6.40pm.
