PS5 release date news: Sony fans get major PlayStation 5 games list update

PS5 fans have had an exciting week, with Sony revealing the release date for the PS5 successor and dropping new details about the console’s controller.

It has been confirmed that the PS5 will have a release date of holiday 2020, meaning it has the same release window as the Xbox Scarlett.

So the PS4 and Xbox One successors will be going toe-to-toe for sales in the run-up to Christmas next year.

It was also confirmed that the follow-up to the PS4 will, as expected, be called the PlayStation 5.

The news PS5 details were revealed in an official Wired interview with SIE CEO Jim Ryan.

And now PS5 fans have been delivered more news with a big PlayStation 5 games list update dropping.

PS5 fans have found out that Bluepoint Games – who made the brilliant Shadow of the Colossus remake – is working on a mysterious PlayStation 5 title.

As reported on in a post by GamingBolt, the news was revealed by the studio’s president Marco Thrush who teased the title was “a big one”.

Thrush said: “We’re working on a big one right now”.

Speaking about what the title is, the Bluepoint Games president teased: “I’ll let you figure out the rest”.

Bluepoint Games has been teasing it’s next game since March 2018, and has previously confirmed that their next title is another remake.

It’s been heavily rumoured that Bluepoint are working on a remake of PS3 classic (and Dark Souls predecessor) Demon’s Souls.

Or, alternatively, it has also been rumoured that Bluepoint could be working on a remake of the original Metal Gear Solid.

Out of the two options a Demon’s Souls remake sounds more likely.

Demon’s Souls was a PS3 exclusive, with Sony owning the rights to Hidetaka Miyazaki’s beloved Dark Souls forebearer.

This means a remake of Demon’s Souls for the PS5 would be an exclusive, whereas an MGS remake would likely be multiformat.

Konami is believed to still hold the rights for Metal Gear Solid, so any possible future titles in the series would likely land on the Xbox also.

It remains to be seen what Bluepoint Games are working on for the PS5, but more details on the game look set to be revealed early next year.

It’s rumoured that the PS5 will officially be unveiled during a major event taking place in February 2020.

PlayStation fans should get their first look at the console then and the new controller.

Sony has confirmed that the PS5 controller will be ditching current rumble tech for more advanced haptic feedback.
