Lucifer season 5: Will Lucifer return to Earth? Tom Ellis drops hint

Filming for Lucifer season five is currently underway and the cast and crew have been hinting what fans can expect in the last series on social media. At the end of Lucifer season four, the Devil (played by Tom Ellis) returned to his seat as the Lord of Hell. However, Ellis recently shared a photo with one cast member which suggests he not stay in Hell for long.

Will Lucifer return to Earth?

At the end of season four, Lucifer decided to return to Hell.

He feared that he would bring literal “Hell on Earth” if he stayed much longer, as more demons would be sent to drag him back to where he came from.

Lucifer also discovered that he was vulnerable around the love of his life, Chloe Decker (Lauren German), which meant not only his life was in danger, but also hers as he could no longer use his supernatural powers to protect her.

However, moments before Lucifer turned his back on Earth, Chloe and he confessed their love for one another.

Since season four came to an end, fans have been speculating whether Chloe will die and go to Hell to be with Lucifer or if he will risk everything and return to Earth.

Tom Ellis, who plays Lucifer, posted a video of himself and Scarlett Estevez, who plays Trixie, doing jazz hands to Instagram.

The caption read: “I may or may not have had a lot of fun shooting scenes with @scarlye07 today for #luciferseason5 Love this episode…that’s all I’m saying. video by the amazing and wonderful @aimeegarcia4realz.”

Trixie is Chloe’s daughter from her marriage to Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro).

The fact Lucifer seems to be spending time with Trixie in series five suggests that he could be back on Earth, which would mean the Devil and Chloe would be reunited.

When is Lucifer season 5 out?

Filming for the new season of Lucifer is currently underway but unfortunately, no release date has been confirmed.

Season four arrived in May 2019 and was the first time Lucifer aired on Netflix after FOX cancelled the show in 2018.

On FOX, Lucifer had a much more mixed release pattern, first airing on January 2016, followed by season two in September that year and season three in October 2017.

Sticking to the season four release date, Lucifer season five is likely to arrive in Spring of 2020.

Express.co.uk will update this article when more information is available.

Sadly, earlier this year, it was announced that Lucifer season five would be the last.

Thankfully, fans have 16 episodes to look forward to in the upcoming season, instead of 10 like season four.
