Call of Duty Controller support: New way to play COD Mobile with controller on PC

For those that might not know, Call of Duty Mobile is available to play on PC, using a specific program.

GameLoop is the official Android emulator from Tencent that can run COD Mobile without any problems on the PC platform.

And it appears to be the last place that boasts Call of Duty Mobile controller support.

To recap, COD Mobile launched at the start of October with official controller support for PS4 and Xbox One devices removed.

Activision went as far as to confirm that it had been removed as an option and didn’t provide further answers on the subject.

The good news is that since this was revealed, it’s become evident that official controller support is being worked on and will likely return in the future.

But for those who don’t want to wait, there is a way to get back to using PS4 and Xbox One controllers for COD Mobile, on PC.

Gamers will first need to download the GameLoop launcher on PC and proceed to add Call of Duty Mobile to your library.

Here’s more from the official GameLoop site: “Call of Duty: Mobile is a free-to-play first-person shooting game developed by Tencent Games.

“It inherits the classic game modes, maps, weapons and characters from Call of Duty PC series in ultimate first-person action experience.

“Playing CODM on GameLoop allows you to break through the limitation of phones with a bigger screen to achieve wider field of view, mouse and keyboard to ensure precise aiming and shooting.

“More importantly, exclusive key mapping and in-depth adaption will bring you the most immersive and wonderful experience of Call of Duty: Mobile.”

That last bit is key to using a console controller while playing COD Mobile on PC.

Connecting your chosen controller to your PC is the first part of the challenge and is probably easiest with a PS4 Dualshock.

Players will then need to enable the controller option on the right-hand side of the GameLoop screen.

This option can be accessed by clicking on the Keyboard icon, followed by the gamepad option in the next menu.

This is followed by having to manually map each input to the correct button on your controller, which is less simple.

This involves positioning them on the screen, followed by clicking on each button and then using the chosen button for the input.

The video above provides a great tutorial on how to do this.

And the good news is that even if you don’t want to go through the faff of doing this, the next option is keyboard and mouse.

This will be a far more accurate configuration that what is currently offered on Android and iOS.

The use of a controller can provide players with an advantage over others, and this might be why the feature was removed.

If it is brought back, there is a good chance that Tencent and Activision will look to limit matchmaking.

This would make it possible for gamers with controllers to play against each other on a level playing field.

When it comes to full console support, it seems very unlikely that we will ever have COD Mobile available to play on PS4 and Xbox One.

A few mobile games have made it onto Nintendo Switch but an announcement for Call of Duty Mobile isn’t expected in the near future.
