The infants were all born prematurely at Geisinger Medical Center’s Neonatal ICU. Eight babies were infected and four recovered; one is still undergoing treatment. The hospital says the babies may have died “as a result of the infection complicating their already vulnerable state due to extreme prematurity” and offer their deepest sympathies.
