Susanna Reid: GMB host reveals her sons don’t sleep at her house amid split admission

Susanna Reid, 48, and Dominic Cotton separated back in 2014 after 16 years together. The Good Morning Britain presenter recently explained she has maintained a “friendship” with her ex after parting ways romantically. However, Susanna also told the Daily Mail the couple’s three sons Sam, Finn and Jack tend to stay at their dad’s house “round the corner” in the evenings after having dinner at home with her. In spite of this surprising revelation, the presenter explained the decision for the teenagers to sleep at Dominic’s house is mainly due to her early starts on the ITV daytime show, which could wake them up.

Susanna and Dominic first met when they both worked at the BBC, where he was a sports presenter.

They went on to split following the journalist’s stint on Strictly Come Dancing, during which she was paired with Kevin Clifton, 36.

She has previously vehemently denied her appearance on the dance competition had anything to do with the break-up.

Five years on from their separation, Susanna says the pair “have made the relationship work.”

She added: “It may not be the relationship you imagined it would be, but you can make a friendship work, and that’s what we’ve done.”

The star also opened up about her attitude towards marriage in relation to her parents’ divorce.

She told the publication: “I clearly remember the moment my mum told me they were divorcing, and I dissolved into tears as any nine-year-old would.

“But they managed to build a very strong friendship — they’re still friends — and that has had such a massive impact on me.

“My parents were at the forefront of my mind during my own split because I can’t bear bitterness or not talking to someone — and if you can be good friends and parent together, it really helps the children.”

Susanna added: “I have a very pragmatic, realistic approach to relationships and I just ruled marriage out.”

Elsewhere, the star’s GMB co-host Piers Morgan, 54, spoke out after she won an award without him.

Susanna announced her win in view of her 409,000 Instagram followers, writing: “Thank you #nationalrealitytvawards – we did the treble again!

“Best Talk Show. Best TV Presenter. Best Celebrity Personality. Well done Team @GMB.”

However, Piers shared Susanna’s post to his page and took the opportunity to tease her about the win.

In view of his 6.8 million followers, he wrote: “AGAIN?!!! That’s 3000 consecutive years! You’re the Ant & Dec of the Reality TV Awards. Congrats.”

Piers then shared a congratulatory tweet addressed to Susanna from Good Morning Britain’s official page and jokingly added the caption: “Couldn’t be happier for her [angry emojis].”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6.30am on ITV.
