Simon Rimmer: 'If I had my way I’d kick you off' Sunday Brunch host tells Simon Reeve

Simon Rimmer, 56, and his Sunday Brunch co-host Tim Lovejoy, 51, were left in fits of laughter during a cooking segment with Simon Reeve, 47, this morning.

As usual, the guest was invited to help Simon whip up one of the dishes in the kitchen while also being interviewed by Tim simultaneously.

However, it appeared the author and documentary filmmaker struggled to multitask after Simon set him up with a board and some pastry to make chilli beef empanadas.

Neglecting his task, the adventurer got distracted talking to Tim about an instance which saw him eating buffalo poo in the mountains in Vietnam.

With the guest mid-sentence, host Simon shifted in front of him to take over with the rolling pin.

Cutting his story short, Simon Reeve apologised: “Sorry. I’m just distracted.”

“It’s just, it needs to be thin, that’s the thing,” the presenter explained.

“And that’s not what it was,” Simon Reeve replied, laughing.

“No,” the host responded.

“I know, look at that! What was I doing?!” the documentary maker said.

“How disgusted do you get with people when they come on here and just fail…?” he asked, at which point Simon exclaimed: “Oh god, I despise you right now, Simon!

“If I had my way, I’d just kick you off the show and send you home!” he joked.

“I don’t mind really. It’s fine,” he added, ensuring there was no doubt he wasn’t bothered by the incident in the least.

On Sunday Brunch today, Simon and Tim were also joined by Baroness Karren Brady, 50, Al Murray, 51, and Norman Jay, 61.

Later in the episode, The Script joined the pair in the kitchen to help with Simon’s recipe for Hassleback butternut squash.

Korean American chef Judy Too, 44, also dropped in to whip up a delicious green tea monkey bread.

Elsewhere, Simon Rimmer recently addressed Sunday Brunch’s boozy antics, admitting there was “no limit” to how much alcohol could be consumed on the show.

“It’s fun when they [guests] have a dew drinks and end up holding two glasses and then keep drinking until the end of the show,” he told the Daily Star.

However, there are some downsides to the guests having a tipple on air, saying: “We all swear far more when we’re in a relaxed situation than when you’re being formal.

“So, we get a lot of that. There are times when the guests actually forget that they’re on telly, which is really lovely.”

Sunday Brunch airs Sundays at 9.30am on Channel 4.
