PS4 system update: Sony removing HUGE PlayStation feature ahead of new 7.00 firmware

PS4 owners have seemingly been dealt a blow, as support for a popular feature may have been removed by Sony.

According to a new post on Reddit, Sony is about to end Facebook support on the PS4.

PlayStation Asia seemingly confirmed as much in a message to a user in need of assistance.

According to PlayStation Asia support, Facebook functionality will end on October 7.

Sony is yet to make an official announcement about ending Facebook support, and it’s not clear if this will be a regional move or worldwide.

However, fellow PS4 owners have reported seeing error messages when trying to share on Facebook, so it looks like something is changing.

It’s possible Facebook support will be removed as part of the changes coming with firmware update 7.00.

Firmware update 7.00 is tipped to launch later this month, although some fans have been testing the changes as part of a recent PS4 beta.

And according to PS4 owners who have already tested the new software, fans can expect some extremely useful changes.

As revealed in a post on Reddit, PS4 firmware 7.00 will finally include a calibration tool for the HDR setting.

The useful feature will help PS4 users fine tune the HDR calibration when the picture is too dark and difficult to see what’s going on.

PS4 firmware update 7.00 will also include other features, such as increasing the party size to 16.

That’s on top of improvements to voice chat quality, which should help with that cross-platform multiplayer.

If you’ve been sent a PS4 beta invite and one of your friends is also looking to try the software out then you’re in luck.

A single beta invite can be used 20 times, so multiple PS4 users can use one code to test out the major PlayStation patch.
