PS5 launch game SHOCK: Another MAJOR PlayStation exclusive returning with next-gen

A major PS5 exclusive has all but been confirmed, and it could be a shock launch game.

And it’s a big deal for the PlayStation 5, because it looks like highly-rated PS4 exclusive Horizon Zero Dawn is getting a sequel.

Horizon Zero Dawn 2 was seemingly confirmed earlier this year by voice actor Janina Gavankar, who played Tatai in the game’s Frozen Wilds DLC.

Speaking to a fan at the Star Wars Celebration, Gavankar – who also voiced Iden Versio in Star Wars Battlefront 2 – said that she knew some secrets about the upcoming release.

“It’s incredible, wait ’til you see the sequel,” Gavankar said (via Reddit). “You’re gonna die – I know some secrets! – you’re gonna die.”

After the surprise statement earlier this year, new evidence has emerged that Guerrilla Games is ramping up production of the sequel.

As Segment Next points out, Guerrilla Games has been busy hiring staff for an “ambitious open-world project”.

Job descriptions for positions like senior art producer, senior quest designer and lead game designer, even mention a “living world” that’s enveloped with vegetation.

The description of the game and the number of hires would certainly suggest that Horizon Zero Dawn is back, and that development is in full swing.

If previous rumours are true, Horizon Zero Dawn 2 may miss the PS5 launch, but could be released in early 2021.

Another big Sony franchise tipped for a PS5 return is PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale.

Titled PlayStation All-stars Arena, the game will reportedly be a 3D brawler developed in partnership with Capcom.

It’s said to be a mixture of Dissidia and Power Stone with a target lock button, cel-shaded visuals and cartoonish environments.

Fans will allegedly be able to pick up a full-featured launch edition, or a free-to-play edition with a rotating roster of characters – similar to Killer Instinct.

Launching in 2020, the PS5 will support 8K resolution, ray-tracing technology and have much faster loading times.

The speedy (or non-existent) loading times are possible thanks to the specialised solid-state drive, which will make a huge difference to processing speeds.

In Spider-Man on a PS4 Pro, for example, it can take upwards of 15 seconds to fast travel from one location to another. The PS5, on the other hand, will be able to handle the same task in less than a second.

Worlds can also be rendered at far greater speeds, which should inject more pace into games.
