Renée Zellweger, 50, was asked about her relationship to the LGBTQ+ community in an interview with Vulture.
The actress said: “I’m an ex-girlfriend of [a gay man], I’m a best friend of, I’m a mentor of, I’m a student of, I’m a client of, a partner of, I’m a neighbour, I’m a boss, a collaborator community.”
She added: “I’m a patient. I’m a customer. I’m a constituent!”
It is unclear which ex-boyfriend she was referring to.
Also during the interview, the interviewee highlighted that Judy Garland and Liza Minnelli were both married to gay men.
Responding to this comment, she said: “Cute’s cute. Handsome is handsome! Sweet is sweet.
“If it works… I mean… I mean! Sometimes it just doesn’t really matter. It just didn’t.
“If there’s a spark, it just is, and who needs to explain it.”
The Bridget Jones star is believed to be single after reportedly splitting from musician Doyle Bramhall II, 50, this year.
The pair got together in 2012, two years after he split from his ex-wife Susannah Melvoin, who he shares two children with.
In 2017, Renée called Doyle a “very special person” in a rare chat with US Weekly about the pair.
Earlier this year, Radar Online reported they had gone their separate ways.
They said: “Doyle’s touring with Eric Clapton and Renée’s been filming in Los Angeles.”
Other reports claimed they had been living separately for a while.
Despite being private about her love life, the actress has had a string of relationships in the public eye.
From 1991 to 1996, Renée was linked to guitarist Sims Ellison.
But the duo reportedly called it quits after she moved away to Texas to focus on her career.

It is believed they parted ways after citing they wanted different things.
Renée has also famously dated Bradley Cooper and rock star Jack White.
In 2005, she said “I do” to American country music singer Kenny Chesney.
The couple had a whirlwind romance and married in the same year.
The pair split up just four months after tying the knot.
