Eamonn Holmes: 'He really is a feminist' This Morning host's co-star Saira Khan speaks out

Eamonn Holmes, 59, has been described as a “generous feminist” by Loose Women presenter Saira Khan, 49. The pair hosted a show together on talkRADIO last year and Saira praised the This Morning star for being “a real fighter” for women. Saira also spends a great deal of time with Eamonn’s wife Ruth Langsford, 59, who works alongside her as part of the Loose Women panel. Opening up about her experience working with Eamonn in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Saira said: “Eamonn is somebody who I’ve always respected from a distance and he’s Mr. TV.

“He’s been on TV forever and circumstances happen where you end up working with them.

“I couldn’t believe I was working alongside Eamonn Holmes and I was his partner and sidekick.”

Addressing the Irish TV personality’s attitude towards his female colleagues, Saira insisted he has been a “mentor” to her in the industry.

She added: “I am so close to him. He’s the funniest, kindest, most generous feminist that I’ve ever met in my life and he really is a feminist.

“He adores women and wants them to do well and is a real fighter for them.

“He gives them opportunities and opens doors for them and he’s a real family friend and mentor to me in this industry so he’s somebody that I absolutely respect, trust and admire.”

Opening up about their dynamic, Saira continued: “We have a lot in common from two different backgrounds in life and he just makes me laugh.

“When we see each other, we laugh until tears are rolling down our eyes, he’s absolutely hilarious and an amazing human being.”

Elsewhere, Saira revealed she recently got Invisalign treatment to improve her teeth and went on to get her daughter Amara involved after discovering she had a “really big overbite”.

Explaining why she chose the braces, the TV personality said: “People think I’m really super confident, I am, but I’ve always had a little bit of low self esteem when it comes to appearances and you start focusing on them because we live in such a superficial world.

“With teeth, they’ve given me more confidence. Before I was not smiling on purpose in case my teeth looked bad, but now I don’t even think about it and my teeth look fantastic!”

Detailing the reason behind her daughter’s treatment, Saira admitted she was given a frightening prognosis by a dentist due to Amara’s jaw.

She recalled: “My daughter has got a really big overbite and when I was having my Invisalign treatment done I asked the dentist if he could look at my daughter’s teeth to see if she needs braces.

“He said, ‘She needs more than braces, she’s going to have proper jaw alignment treatment’.

“In the old days before Invisalign they used to break your jaw and put pins in there to bring your jaw forward.

“But Invisalign have brought out this treatment where you can start as young as eight and you put these braces on to move your jaw forward.”

Saira and her daughter Amara are being treated with Invisalign by Dr Hanel Nathwani at Reading Smiles. For more information visit invisalign.co.uk
