Louise Redknapp: Jamie Redknapp’s ex told off for taking ‘random man’s number’

Louise Redknapp, 44, found fame in R&B group, Eternal, which was made up of herself, Kelle Bryan, plus sisters Easther Bennett and Vernie Bennett.

The mother-of-two recalled the story on how the group came together during an appearance on Sunday Brunch recently.

Louise revealed it was by fate she bumped into a talent scout from a record company during a night out when she was just 16-years-old.

She shared to hosts Tim Lovejoy and Simon Rimmer: “I was at Kelles house, from Eternal, Kelle Bryan, and we said shall we go out and we just ended up walking down Tottenham Court Road and the bouncer said do you want to come in this club?”

Shocked at the invite, Tim Lovejoy interrupted: “What, they were asking you in!?”

Giggling, Louise continued: “Yes, and we went in and Pete Tong was DJing, no one knew at this stage who Pete Tong was and how big he was gonna be.

“And, his A&R guy was there with him and he come up to me and said can you sing? And, I said yes, stage school! Yeah gimme ya number.”

The singer said her mum wasn’t very happy with her for taking a random man’s number, plus being out in a night club at such a young age.

She continued: “And then I remember going home and my mum said exactly that, ‘why was you in a night club?’ and ‘why did you take a man’s number, you’re 16!’”

“And I rang it anyway and it was legit, he was head of A&R at Polydor records.”

Amazed at Louise’s story, Simon said “Imagine if you hadn’t done it!”

“Exactly,” Louise replied. “God knows what I would be doing.”

Meanwhile, Louise announced some news earlier in the week as she revealed she and her business partner, Emma Thatcher, have gone their “separate ways”.

The pair worked together on their Fashion and Lifestyle blog A Style Album and would share their tips in the form of tutorials on the YouTube channel.

Louise, who was married to Jamie Redknapp for 19 years, shared the news with her 653,000 Instagram followers by uploading a picture of herself in a denim ensemble.

She wrote: “After five amazing years making content for A Style Album, both Emma and I have decided to go our separate ways.”

But not turning back on the lifestyle industry completely, she told fans she will be launching her own fashion venture.

She added: “But as they say, when one door closes another one opens.

“So, I am very excited to announce my new online fashion, beauty and lifestyle venture ‘Lou Loves’.

“You can find it on my personal channel @louiseredknapp. Thank you for all your support, I am very proud of what we created on A Style Album!”
