Dan Walker: BBC Breakfast host delivers heartbreaking tribute to newsreader Peter Sissons

Dan is an avid social media user and regularly posts updates on his Twitter account on his life. But in a touching move, he shared a memory with Mr Sissons. Mr Sissons passed away earlier this week and tributes poured out following the announcement.

Posting on Twitter, Dan said: “Having grown up watching and admiring Peter it was such a privilege to end up working alongside him at News 24.

“I don’t think he ever got my name right when he threw to me but I loved sharing a studio with him and learned so much.

“My thoughts are with his family.”

It comes as Dan revealed he had been filming for a TV show on a rival channel.

The host is set to take part in a number of episodes on Countdown.

He will feature alongside Susie Dent is the show’s Dictionary Corner.

The programme is an institution for the channel and is currently presented by Nick Hewer.

Rachel Riley is his assistant and regular numbers whizz.

Writing on Twitter, Dan said: “Only 30 seconds remember.”

He added: “Lovely day at Channel 4 Countdown with Susie Dent, Rachel Riley and Nick Hewer.

“I even managed to get a few long words without the help of Lady Dent.

“You’ll be able to see it at the end of January.

“PS no idea why my teeth loos so Firmino white in this picture.”

His BBC Breakfast co-host is Louise Minchin.

In a recent interview with The Daily Mirror, Dan and Louise spoke out about their friendship.

BBC Breakfast airs weekdays at 6am on BBC One.
