Fortnite Season 11 countdown update following new event leaks

UPDATE: Epic Games has updated its Battle Pass end time, pointing to a later Fortnite Season 11 start time.

It now confirms that the current Battle Pass will be available to complete until Sunday, October 13, on all platforms.

Again, Epic Games don’t usually release such big updates on the weekend, making Monday, October 14, another good Fortnite Season 11 candidate.

ORIGINAL: Fortnite gamers are heading towards the final updates for Season X this week as Epic Games finishes their current run.

As ever, it’s hard to say when the best time is to start the countdown for the next major leap in the Battle Royale experience. But it looks like we’re getting close to the launch of Fortnite Season 11 and we’re even getting reports regarding the first leaks.

From the information shared on the Epic Games website, it appears Fortnite Season 10 will be ending on Sunday, October 6. The interesting thing about this date is that it is a Sunday, so there is a chance Epic Games will wait until Monday (Oct 7) before rolling out the big update.

This would run against how Epic Games have conducted business in the past, but Season X does look to be a little different from others.

There have been new hints and rumours that will start seeing some interesting stuff happening in-game following today’s update.

This will be available to download following downtime at 9am and could offer more clues for data miners hungry for news.

There are already rumours that a new loading screen will be made available following today’s patch release, which will provide further hints at what is coming in Season 11.

And other leaks suggest that Epic Games are planning something big for the coming weeks.

This includes references to closing all the rifts and bringing about “The End” whatever that might mean.

There are also the usual rumours that a new map might be on the way but there doesn’t appear to be much evidence for that happening just yet.

However, new Points of Interest do appear to be on the menu, including locales like Holly Hedges, Lazy Lake and Slurpy Swamp.

These sound similar to places already available to find on the map and could be part of some kind of new dimension warp being cooked up by the Epic team.

Data miners also believe they have found the skins from the first major Season 11 event.

Halloween will be returning to Fortnite Battle Royale, and it looks like both the Skull Trooper and Ghoul Trooper will be back, sporting new designs.

New skins will include The Dark One and Slurp Creature and will likely be part of the Halloween Item Shop lineup.

More news could be shared by data miners following today’s update, which is scheduled to take servers offline for around two hours.

Patch notes will be shared after maintenance has been completed, but there’s no reason to believe any big Season 11 news will be shared.

“Patch v10.40.1 arrives tomorrow,” a message from Epic Games confirms.

“Downtime will begin at 4 AM ET (0800 UTC), and the Patch Notes will be available when downtime ends.

“Please note that the patch size will be larger than usual on Nintendo Switch.”
