Emmerdale spoilers: Mandy Dingle faces fierce backlash as she plots unforgivable betrayal

Mandy (played by Lisa Riley) made her second return of the year to Emmerdale last month after almost two decades away from the ITV soap. The Dingle icon made her comeback with son Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) and was harbouring a money making secret. However, she was soon caught out by Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) and with her plot foiled, the mischievous character will consider betraying her own family for selfish needs.

Upcoming episodes will see Lydia Hart (Karen Blick) thrown back into the thick of the action as it seems she is to inherit a large sum of money.

The B&B cleaner has become a pinnacle of the infamous clan of the village, as she has struck up a romantic relationship with soap favourite, Sam Dingle (James Hooton).

Lydia won’t know abut the money in the first instance however, as Mandy manages to get wind of the news before she does.

It all unfolds when a stranger arrives at Wishing Well Cottage where Sam and Lydia reside, looking for the former but in her place stands Mandy.

The mischievous character lets the mystery character into the home and as the pair get talking, she discovers he is a solicitor.

Interested in what the arrival wants with Lydia, Mandy soon discovers the cleaner has been left a huge sum of money by a unknown benefactor.

Knowing this could be her opportunity to get her hands on some cash and take the inheritance for her own, Mandy betrays her family by posing as the villager the solicitor is looking for.

Flirting with the mysterious, suited and booted guest, the mischievous Dingle icon tries to persuade him to hand over the money.

As Jessie Dingle (Sandra Marvin) got close with her ex-partner Al Chapman (Michael Wildman), the Emmerdale returnee walked in on the pair.

The schoolteacher reprimanded Mandy for walking in on them, but then changed tact when she pleaded with her husband’s cousin not to tell him about the kiss.

Both women ended up exchanging crossed words, before Marlon discovered the truth with the fallout leading to Jessie’s exit from the village.

Earlier this year, actress Lisa, 43, revealed she would be returning for a longer stint following her initial comeback at the begging of the year.

Teasing Mandy’s storylines, executive producer Jane Hudson told Digital Spy: “We’ve got Lisa Riley returning – Mandy and Vinny are back with scams and all sorts going on and we’re very excited about that.

“It’s going to be very fun and colourful as she makes herself at home.

“We’re currently storylining Christmas — we also have lots of secrets, lies and revelations; everything we have been building up to explodes at Christmas time.

“That leads us into another special week at the start of next year so we have a hell of a lot going on, it’s fair to say.”

Emmerdale continues tonight at 7pm on ITV.
