Star Wars cast: Is Brie Larson in Star Wars movie? Actress speaks out

Brie Larson, AKA Captain Marvel, has been reported to have eyes on a role in Star Wars. But she is not the only Marvel star who is supposedly setting their sights on the space saga. Will Brie Larson actually be in Star Wars, or is this just another fan fantasy?

Is Brie Larson in the new Star Wars movie?

The Star Wars movie scheduled for release later this year will not feature Brie Larson, or so we know.

However, Larson’s reported desire to join the franchise has come after it was announced that Marvel mastermind Kevin Feige will serve as a producer on new Star Wars material.

This is mega news for Marvel and Star Wars fans, and it may even mean there is some blessed crossover, or at the very least Marvel Easter eggs for the fans to find.

Since this news came out, however, some of Marvel’s biggest stars have teased fans with the notion they may join Star Wars, including Larson and Captain America star Chris Evans.

Larson very cleverly posted a photo of herself on her twitter account, asking: “Did someone say Star Wars?!”

Accompanying this post was an image of her doing the full Alec Guinness, kitted out in Obi-Wan Kenobi gear while holding a lightsaber and leaning on a model of C-3PO.

This set fans aflutter, as they became obsessed with the idea of Larson taking a role in the upcoming film produced by Feige.

Fans know how much of a Star Wars nerd Larson really is – a story from the set of Captain Marvel goes that Samuel L Jackson, who played Mace Windu in the Star Wars prequels, brought his purple lightsaber to set.

At seeing it, Larson was reportedly in tears and told the cast how badly she wants to be a Jedi.

Adding to reports of the Marvel crossover, Evans has outed himself as a fan of the franchise and someone willing to take up the mantle after wielding Captain America’s iconic shield.

News site Collider shared their story about Feige’s new role, with the question: “Which MCU actor would you like to see pop up in a #StarWars movie?”

Evans was quick on the draw and simply replied: “Me.”

This led fans to bombard the thread with images of Captain America as a Jedi, along with images of Larson wielding a lightsaber and even a picture of Evans taking a lightsaber to his Marvel co-star Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes.)

Needless to say, this news has sent fans into a tailspin of memes and pictures, suggesting these two captains could even captain a Jedi ship and take the Star Wars franchise into a galaxy even further away.

However, fans may need to hold their horses somewhat, as it is very early days yet.

Feige’s film has no details yet, including who will write and direct the film, let alone who stars.

Of course, with so many major stars on his Marvel roster, it seems likely there will be a crossover or two, especially as megastars have mates of directors have made it into Star Wars films before.

Fans will remember the huge media storm around the news that Prince Harry and Prince William had played storm troopers in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, as well as directors Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish, who played Resistance fighters in the movie.

On Feige’s appointment and according to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney co-chairman Alan Horn said: “We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox.

“With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together.”

It has also been reported that Rogue One director Rian Johnson has been asked to pen a new Star Wars trilogy, which will set the rumour mill in motion about what role Feige may have in this, or whether his film will be completely separate.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is in cinemas on December 20
