KISS Singer Gene Simmons Hospitalized For Kidney Stone Procedure

KISS singer Gene Simmons has been hospitalized to undergo a kidney stone procedure.

TMZ was first to break the news Simmons was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles early Tuesday morning. The rocker has been suffering from kidney stones, and it got to the point they needed to be removed surgically.

It was a non-invasive procedure that reportedly only took about an hour. A stent was put into Simmons’ urethra to help get rid of any other kidney stones. The stent is not permanent, and if all goes well should be removed next week.

Earlier this month the KISS frontman used Twitter to let fans know the band’s multi-year “End of the Road” farewell tour was put on hold due to his health issue.

“Apologies to the fans in Salt Lake City. We will come back and do the show at a later date. The truth is, I have to fly to LA to do a medical procedure. Nothing serious. But it must be taken care of now. Thank you for your good wishes. All is well,” the 70-year-old rocker shared via Twitter.

The music icon has suffered from kidney stones in the past. Fans may recall Simmons chose to auction off one of his previous stones for charity in 2009.

It sounds disgusting, but people had no problem bidding on the unusual item. Simmons kidney stone sold for $15,000. Yeah someone paid that much money for a kidney stone.

Gene Simmons hasn’t commented on his procedure, as of last night though he was not too worried about entering the hospital.

The rocker made an appearance at the new Angelina Jolie movie, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. He shared he was having a good time on social media and did not give any indication he was headed to the hospital this morning.

Anyone who has ever suffered from kidney stones knows they are extremely painful. Simmons must have been in excruciating pain to have to undergo surgery to help remove them. Generally, they simply pass, although the process of passing them is not a walk in the park.

Simmons is on the mend from his procedure, which means KISS should hopefully be announcing when their tour will resume. The group was waiting to confirm new dates until the singer had is kidney stone issue resolved.

Here is hoping the rocker gets well soon and the band is back to putting on killer shows for fans, quickly.
