Star Wars Rise of Skywalker: Rey to DESTROY Kylo Ren with THIS pivotal weapon?

Rey (played by Daisy Ridley) has gone through an important journey ever since she was introduced in Star Wars The Force Awakens.

The Jedi-in-training has made allies, enemies, and gone on the hunt for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hammill) in the hope of learning more about her own Force power.

And the final film is set to see Rey fully-embrace her skill in order to battle the twisted Kylo Res (Adam Driver), Han Solo (Harrison Ford) and Princess Leia’s (Carrie Fisher) disturbed son.

Now Star Wars writer Terrio has shared there is much more of a connection between the two characters, and some of the most interesting films in the movies are between them.

Speaking to Empire Magazine, Terrio also teased the battle between light and dark will be at the very centre of the series’ final film, but Ren has one very important weakness – meaning Rey could use it against him.

“Some of the most interesting scenes in The Last Jedi are the conversations between Rey and Ren,” he said.

“We’ve tried to pick up that complicated relationship that really has been present ever since the interrogation in [The Force Awakens].”

But what exactly will that mean? Could Rey lose her nerve and end up letting Ren go free, as her weakness gets the better of her?

Or, will the character use Ren’s affection and special feeling for her to destroy him in the ultimate final battle sequence?

Ren could even falter in his grand plan and the duo may end up working together.

“When Ren takes off his mask,” Terrio continued. “There’s a nakedness about him with Rey that he doesn’t express to anyone else.”

Terrio also praised The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson for his character development.

The writer was thrilled Johnson had managed “developing that in fascinating ways”.

“We’ve been able to develop it even further,” Terrio then dropped another juicy tidbit.

Will Rey embrace the Dark Side and become the ultimate villain before the series finishes?

The latest trailer showed the character draped in a black hood and holding a double red lightsaber after all.

Other eagerly-awaited moments include Carrie Fisher’s final scenes, which have reportedly been put together via clever editing.

Will Rey’s parentage finally be revealed?

Or will the director and creators decide to keep it a secret forever?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released in cinemas December 20.
