Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp ‘would take’ two Man Utd players at Anfield

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp would take two current Manchester United players if he had the option to add rival players to his squad.

Liverpool are currently five points clear at the top of the Premier League table, and are the reigning European champions having beaten Tottenham in the Champions League final last season.

Meanwhile, United are taking part in the Europa League after missing out on a top-four spot last season, and squeezed past Rochdale on penalties on Wednesday.

Danny Murphy has now discussed the gulf between the two sides by outlining only two players that Klopp would love to join him at Anfield.

He told the Daily Mail: “United need more quality to catch up to their rivals but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any at the club.

“I think Jurgen Klopp would take Marcus Rashford and Daniel James all day long.

“They would fit in with his philosophy very well.”

Rashford came through the youth set up at Old Trafford while James joined from Swansea in the summer for £15million.

The England international has struggled to impress despite his opening day brace against Chelsea, whereas James has earned himself a spot in the starting XI with a handful of fine goals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has come under criticism just six games into his first full season as United boss after winning just two Premier League games so far.

The Norwegian is aware that the season has not gone to plan so far, but has reiterated that it will take time to perfect.

“It’s not like the situation we had last year,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.

“There’s no lack of desire there.

“For us it’s about building a new culture, building a new team, bringing everybody together.

“Is it the job I expected? Yes.

“I never said this was going to be a quick-fix job. It’s step after step after step.”
