Emma Barton, 42, admitted she was slightly disappointed with her Strictly Come Dancing performance after receiving a score of 24 from the judges. The EastEnders actress spoke out about the response to her Foxtrot backstage with her professional dance partner Anton du Beke, 53. She candidly said in a video shared by Strictly’s official Instagram page: “I’m quite annoyed with myself.” Going on to explain what went wrong, the soap star revealed she performed the dance perfectly during the dress rehearsal just before the show.
Emma added: “We did a cheeky dress run and we nailed it.
“I was so excited, then my legs went and my arms went.”
Emma’s comments come after Strictly’s notoriously tough judge Craig Revel Horwood, 54, told her to work on her “top line” in ballroom dances.
He said: “Your top line needs improving and your hip positions are sometimes odd.
“You’re looking down on occasion and there was occasional gapping as well and I agree with Bruno it needs to be a bit smoother.”
Fortunately, the judge ended his critique on a positive note, as he continued: “You have real dance talent and it’s wonderful to see.”
Host Rylan, 30, was quick to highlight the reaction to Anton wearing shorts on the programme.
“Put it away,” Rylan laughed, as the dancer jokingly replied: “I couldn’t help myself, it was a Wednesday afternoon and it’s very normal for me.”
Quizzing Anton on his new look, Rylan asked: “Is this a sign of the Anton we’ve got to come?”
“I like to keep a few things covered up, but not much,” he replied.
Startled by his response, Emma jokingly responded: “Please do, please keep covered up.”
