Why buying this Amazon Echo could leave you massively disappointed

The Amazon Echo remains a top smart speaker and it deserves every one of its awards.

The second-generation device was first announced back in 2017 and it remains on sale today with stores including Argos still stocking this popular smart speaker.

However, buying one of these older machines could be a bad idea right right now as Amazon has just announced the launch of an all-new Echo which packs numerous bonus features and an improved design.

The online retailer has made its latest Echo look more like the Echo Plus with a curvaceous look and some new colours including Twilight Blue, Charcoal, Heather Grey, and Sandstone.

Then there’s the way it sounds with this new device using the same audio architecture as the more expensive Plus model.

That means you get a 3-inch woofer and increased back volume making the bass feel stronger and the mids and highs sounding clearer.

One of the best things about these upgrades is that they don’t come at an extra cost with the new Echo still priced at £89.99.

Express.co.uk has already had our hands on the new Echo and it’s definitely worth waiting for when it’s released on October 16 and there’s certainly no way we’d recommend buying the current model that remains on sale.

It’s worth noting that some other new devices are coming next month including an Echo Dot with a clock that glows through its mesh case.

There’s also a device called the Echo Studio which finally brings a much richer sound experience to users.

Its 5.25-inch woofer and 330W of peak power is capable of producing a deep, rich bass by using the bass port at the bottom to maximise airflow and bass output from the woofer.

Echo Studio also has a 1-inch tweeter and three 2-inch midrange speakers that deliver dynamic midranges and crisp, high frequencies.

Plus, it has a 24-bit DAC and a power amplifier with 100 kHz of bandwidth for high-res, lossless music playback, available via Amazon Music HD.

Like some other premium speakers, the Studio also automatically senses the acoustics of your space and fine-tunes audio playback to deliver optimal sound—no matter where you put the device in the room.

“We love hearing feedback from customers about how they use Alexa throughout their day—whether that’s listening to music, dropping in on a loved one, trying out a new recipe or playing a game with the family,” said Jorrit Van der Meulen, Vice President, Amazon Devices International.

“We hope these new Echo devices will give customers even more ways to access Alexa—whether that’s through the best-sounding Echo yet—Echo Studio, the reimagined Echo and Echo Dot, new designs like Echo Show 8 and Echo Flex, or new experiences for Alexa on-the-go with Echo Buds.”
