Strictly Come Dancing 2019: Saffron Barker 'likely to get boot' as 'disadvantage' exposed

Strictly Come Dancing contestant Saffron Barker has quickly become a favourite with viewers following her debut performance with professional dance partner AJ Pritchard on Saturday night. But it seems there is a strong chance she won’t lift the Glitterball Trophy later this year as her disadvantages are revealed.

Saffron, a 19-year-old YouTube star was ecstatic when she signed up to the competition, claiming it was a “real-life dream coming true”.

Despite scoring a solid 27 points for her Tango which she danced to Meghan Trainor’s Lips Are Moving last weekend, data suggests she will leave the show quite early on.

Zazzle Media conducted some research into which contestants are most likely to win the series and why.

For Saffron, it seems her age is a huge factor which will impact how long she is taking part in the competition.

This year, the line-up has been completely diverse, but will the different demographic cost contestants their chance at taking home the Glitterball Trophy?

“While age is just a number, statistics are not and the data looks like Saffron is going to get the boot from the dancing show quite early on,” Zazzle Media told Express.co.uk.

Regardless of her ever-growing talent, it seems the teenager has a few factors which could cost her her place in the final.

In the 16 years since Strictly first hit out screens, a teenager has never won the show which automatically puts Saffron at a disadvantage.

“Honestly, week one, I wanted to throw absolutely everything at you, all the pivots, so when we progress in the next routines, where you feel quite calm, show one, you can’t get kicked out! You’ve got the throw it all in there!” AJ explained.

“It was so hard!” Saffron said in response. “But I’m glad because we got really really good scores and it was just amazing.”

“We put in so many hours, we were doing 12 or 13 hour days and all I want from my partner is to create that memory and the routine that I know you can produce.

“I was a little bit nervous to start with. As soon as that music kicked in, I knew you were going to use that adrenaline and really create the best performance you could!” AJ added.

“Do you know what the hardest part [was]? It wasn’t even the steps, even though they were really hard!” The YouTubers said.

“The dancing wasn’t easy, but the face! I cannot be serious for longer than 20 seconds. 90 seconds of dance, longest I could be serious.”

This weekend, Saffron and AJ are dancing the Cha Cha Cha to One Touch by Jess Glynne and Jax Jones.

Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One on Saturday night at 6:40pm.
