Samsung Galaxy S11 and Galaxy Note 11 might NEVER launch

Samsung might never launch a follow-up to the Galaxy S10 or Galaxy Note 10 series, a new report suggests.

There’s no need to panic though, Samsung isn’t bowing out of the flagship smartphone business. Far from it.

Instead the company looks set to merge its two flagship ranges into a single, all-conquering handset. And honestly, that makes a lot of sense.

There used to be a number of differentiating factors between the Galaxy S and the Galaxy Note ranges – with the latter pushing the boundaries in terms of price, speed, large displays, and the all-important S Pen stylus.

But over the years the differences between the two ranges have vanished, except for the stylus. In fact, the Galaxy S10 5G debuted a number of features before the Galaxy Note 10, including 5G support and Live Focus video recording.

So, what comes next?

Well, according to almost infallible tipster Evan Blass, the two smartphone ranges will be combined into a single, large screen, feature-packed, and stylus sporting handset, dubbed Galaxy One.

Of course, Samsung would still have two flagship series – the Galaxy One, and the pricier Galaxy Fold.

Evan Blass says discussions are still in the early stages and that South Korean company could ultimately decide against implementing the idea.

According to sources speaking to Blass, one of the deciding factors is whether sales of the Galaxy Fold are healthy enough to justify bumping the Galaxy Note from its habitual August release window to free-up the slot for a new Galaxy Fold.

If that’s not the case, it’s possible the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note brand names will stick about for another go around. Although, should Samsung continue with the pattern established this year, these new handsets are likely to be even closer in features, form factor and price than ever before.

As always with rumours this far out, it’s worth taking with a sizeable pinch of salt. That said, it does all make a great deal of sense, especially given the ambitious plans Samsung is reported to have for its Galaxy Fold. During the launch event, Samsung mobile chief DJ Koh heralded the handset as “the foundation of the smartphone of tomorrow”, which suggests that it’s got big plans.
