Lucy Verasamy: ITV weather star reveals how she ended up in forecasting 'I never left'

Lucy Verasamy, 39, is best known for keeping viewers up to date on the latest forecasts on ITV. In a recent interview with The Sports Edit, the brunette beauty was asked how she got into weather forecasting. “The simplest answer is – I did a week’s work experience at a private weather company that’s now the biggest in Europe,” she said. “And never left…”

The presenter began her career at the Press Association’s weather centre.

She later moved to Sky and then ITV.

Lucy now hosts the weather segments on the likes of ITV Racing and, occasionally, Good Morning Britain.

Meanwhile, weather reporter Lucy Verasamy also revealed how the job had affected her life.

“Hugely,” she said. “[In] too many ways to describe!”

“Each day is rarely the same working in weather and in a newsroom. It certainly keeps us on our toes.”

Elsewhere, Lucy Verasamy shared a shocking image revealing the impact of climate change earlier this week.

Explaining she was taking a course on climate change, she shared a picture of rain hitting her window, saying: “It doesn’t rain it pours. Warmer climate = wetter.”

She then uploaded a photo from the lecture in view of her 107,000 Instagram followers, showing how much the Earth’s temperatures have increased over the years.

The slide featured two images, one titled Summer 1976, which showed a few patches of scorching red, indicating hot weather, with blue covering most of the planet.

The second, Summer 2016, had hardly any blue spots, with the red dominating.

“Our climate change course @itvweather via Royal Meteorologist Society,” Lucy captioned the post.

Yesterday, Lucy predicted largely clear skies for the night.

However, she said there would be more wet weather coming from the west this morning.

She went on to say this morning would be “far too mild for any frost”, with the map showing temperatures ranging from nine degrees in northern Scotland to a warmer 15 in southern England.

Londoners were told they could expect temperatures around 13 degrees at the start of the day.
