Boxing results LIVE: Updates from Errol Spence Jr vs Shawn Porter at LA's Staples Center

The unbeaten Errol Spence Jr puts his IBF welterweight belt on the line a fifth time today as he takes on Shawn Porter, the WBC champion.

Spence – 25-0 with 21 KOs – is the heavy favourite at Staples Center in Los Angeles against 31-year-old Porter, who is 30-2-1 with 17 KOs.

The unification match will see one of the pair own half of the 147lb division’s straps with Manny Pacquiao owning the WBA belt and Terence Crawford the current WBO title-holder.

British boxer Kell Brook – who Spence Jr beat to claim the IBF title in May 2017 after outpointing Porter in 2014 – is expecting a bloody battle.

He told Sky Sports: “It will get rough and tough. Porter will put the early pressure on, but Spence Jr will stand with him and then take over.

“If Spence Jr gets a window to hurt Porter, he will jump on him and try to hurt him. [I think] Spence Jr [to win] on points but I wouldn’t be surprised by a stoppage.”

Before Spence and Porter trade blows, Anthony Dirrell and David Benavidez contest the WBC super middleweight title.

Dirrell – 33-1-1 – was given the title after Benavidez had it removed due to a positive drugs test, but his fellow American, who is 12 years his junior and without defeat, is tipped to reclaim his crown.
