Boxing news: Daniel Dubois gives verdict on Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr 2 – EXCLUSIVE

Anthony Joshua will beat Andy Ruiz Jr and win back his world title belts in December, according to fellow British heavyweight Daniel Dubois.

Joshua hit the deck four times in his first clash with Ruiz Jr in June as he eventually succumbed to the onslaught in the seventh round.

Ruiz Jr became the first Mexican heavyweight champion in history as he left Madison Square Garden in New York with the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.

The bout produced one of the biggest shocks in boxing history, with Ruiz Jr’s chances before the fight rated at 25/1 by the bookmakers.

But Dubois feels Joshua will overcome his foe in the rematch – set to take place in Diriyah two weeks before Christmas.

“Joshua-Ruiz, that’s a great fight, it could possibly end up being a repeat of the first fight,” he told Express Sport.

“Joshua will be better in the rematch, he has to be.

“I think Joshua will come back with a little bit extra and win those belts back.”

Joshua will look to win back his titles in front of 16,000 fans at a purpose-built stadium in the little town situated on the outskirts of the Saudi’s capital Riyadh.

Despite criticism about the venue, Joshua told Express Sport las month that he had plans to showcase his talents all over the world.

He explained: “I just think that now’s not the time to stop. The opportunities are endless and limitless and the next opportunity on the list is Saudi.

“We’ve done New York, now we’re doing this. What’s next in the remaining 8-10 years of my career?

“I’ve travelled around the world fighting [in the amateurs].

“Me and Rob [McCracken] have been doing it for years. France, Sweden, Azerbaijan, Turkey.”
