Zoe Ball: 'Could be a serious situation in the court' Strictly host on Katya Jones move

Zoe Ball, 48, was joined on the Strictly Come Dancing – It Takes Two sofa by stars Mike Bushell, 53, and Katya Jones, 30, for tonight’s instalment. During their chat, Zoe asked the pair to break down some of their incredible moves from Saturday night’s Jive routine. One particularly ambitious one saw Katya round kick her leg while her partner ducked underneath in perfect time. Watching the slow-motion clip back, the Russian-born dancer laughed: “Look how annoyed I look! He got away!

“In the rehearsal I actually went and…” she tailed off, laughing as he mimed hitting Mike across the chest.

“I was so in awe of Katya’s footwork, I forgot to duck,” he admitted.

“You smacked him in the face?!” Zoe exclaimed, as the pair continued to giggle. “You forgot to duck?

“That could be a serious situation in the court, couldn’t it?” the presenter quipped lightheartedly.

Saturday’s high-energy routine earned Mike and Katya a decent 22 points and received plenty of positive feedback from the panel.

Head judge Shirley Ballas, 59, praised Mike’s flick ball changes so highly she declared they were worthy of week eight of the competition.

“You could not have given more energy and we really enjoyed your performance,” Bruno Tonioli, 63, chipped in, while Craig Revel Horwood, 54, said: “You’re just putting your heart and your soul into it.

“But you do have sickled feet, my lovely, which you need to rectify,” he criticised.

New judge Motsi Mabuse, 38, told Mike: “I was entertained, in a very strange way, but I was entertained.

“There was so much happening every time I tried to concentrate on something, something else was happening and I didn’t want to miss any beat.

“Keep that up.” she added.

Elsewhere, on tonight’s It Takes Two, Mike and Katya gave Zoe some insights into their upcoming second dance: the American Smooth.

As the BBC Breakfast favourite prepares to perform his first Ballroom routine to Rhinestone Cowboy, Mike said: “It’s one of the most dramatic routines Katya has ever come up with.

“You’re renowned for your amazing routines,” he told his partner.

A little later, Zoe was left sounding apprehensive when the pair revealed they would be attempting a move they had dubbed the ‘human lasso’.

“Let’s put it this way: it has gone wrong in the past,” Katya said.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
