Viscountess Emma Weymouth brands Strictly 2019 judges ‘harsh’ as she reveals epic pep talk

Viscountess Emma Weymouth, 33, has called out the Strictly Come Dancing 2019 judges as “harsh” in her column in the Daily Telegraph today.

“The judges were harsh – what have I got myself into?” was the title of the piece, where she divulged what it has taken to learn this week’s new routine.

The Viscountess and pro dance partner, Aljaž Skorjanec, were the sixth couple to dance on the first live show, performing the Cha Cha to She’s a Lady by Tom Jones.

“We performed our Cha Cha correctly,” she wrote.

“As in I didn’t miss any of the steps but the atmosphere was discombobulating and I know I didn’t give my most convincing performance.”

The BBC judges awarded the pair 19 points for their opening routine, leaving the duo nearer the bottom of the leaderboard.

“The judges scores were harsh, but their comments were incredibly constructive,” she recalled.

“Even Craig Revel Horwood said something nice, which was a delight for me!”

The 33-year-old squealed with excitement when they were greeted by host Tess Daly at the end of their performance before the judges gave their comments.

“I like when you let your hair down,” Bruno Tonioli laughed.

“You became alive!”

All four judges seemingly agreed that the Viscountess needed to learn more technical skills on how to use her legs more.

After the performance, she recalled her worries and how a pro dancer had to calm her down.

“Being told that they see potential left me feeling full of beans. but an hour later in the make-up room, while I was having my enormous hairpiece deconstructed, the worry set in,” she wrote.

“Pro dancer Janette Manrara gave me a pep talk.”

This week Viscountess Emma and Aljaž are tackling the tango for their second live performance of the show.

“I feel as if my torso has been guillotined in half whilst my head is stretched so far away that it now belongs to another body,” she wrote.

“Yes, that’s right, we’re dancing the Tango this week.”

“I now refer to Aljaž as boss and I don’t want to let him down,” she said.

“Teaching the tango puts him in a very focused frame of mind, and I’m terrified to put a foot wrong. The pivots are the most impressive yet perilous move in this one.”

“It requires such a level of muscular control and angular positioning that I’ve literally forgotten which is my right foot. Off to an excellent start with that one then!” she joked.

Strictly Come Dancing airs tomorrow at 6:40pm on BBC One.
