Riverdale season 4 episode titles: What are the names of the new episodes?

Riverdale season four is expected to be another tumultuous year for the high school students as they come to terms with a great loss while one of their own disappears. While very little information has been revealed about what will happen next in the show, some of the new episode titles for the upcoming CW series have reportedly been released. Hidden in the newly released information could be some clues about what will come next – here’s everything you need to know about them so far.

What are the Riverdale season 4 episode titles?

1. Chapter Fifty-Eight: In Memoriam

The first episode of season four is entitled ‘In Memoriam’ and has been confirmed to be a tribute to the late Luke Perry.

The actor starred in the teen show as Fred Andrews, Archie’s (played by KJ Apa) father before his sudden death earlier this year.

Ahead of the series return, Warner Brothers confirmed the first episode would be a tribute to him and his role on the show.

The official synopsis for episode one reads: “As the residents of Riverdale prepare for its upcoming Independence Day parade, Archie receives a phone call that will change the rest of his life forever.”

2. Chapter Fifty-Nine: Fast Times at Riverdale High

The second episode of the new season is called Fast Times at Riverdale High.

Set for release on October 16, the episode is a reference to Amy Heckerling’s 1982 film American coming-of-age comedy, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

The film chronicled a year in the life of high schoolers who find themselves looking for love and trapped in romantic dilemmas.

Could this hint at some unexpected romances just two episodes in?

3. Chapter Sixty: Dog Day Afternoon

Following the same pattern as the previous episode, the third outing seems to be another film reference.

Unlike the rom-com that inspired episode two, Dog Day Afternoon is a neo-noir crime drama directed by Sidney Lumet and starring Al Pacino.

Could this be the moment viewers see Jughead Jones’ (Cole Sprouse) disappearance that is hinted at in the series trailer?

The episode is set to air on October 23 in the USA, before being released on Netflix the next day.

4. Chapter Sixty-One: Halloween

Released on October 30, the fourth episode is simply entitled Halloween.

This is sure to mark the first scary special for the teen drama as it commemorates the holiday.

5. Chapter Sixty-Two: Witness for the Prosecution

Episode five is called Witness for the Prosecution and will be directed by Harry Jierjian and written by Devon Turner.

This will be Jierjian’s second episode for the series, having previously been responsible for season four, episode 12, in which Moose (Cody Kearsley) comes out.

Turner has previously written three episodes of the show, including the Pickens’ Day special in season two and prom night in season three.

The title also implies there could be some kind of court scene in the episode based on its link to the short story of the same name by Agatha Christie.

6. Chapter Sixty-Three: Hereditary

This episode will be called Hereditary, which could be in reference to some of the family drama that fans know the series never shies away from.

Nothing is known yet about the episode apart from the fact it will be directed by Gabriel Correa.

Correa is also behind the first episode of the new season, which could mean there’s a link between the episodes.

7. Chapter Sixty-Four: The Ice Storm

Episode seven of season four will be called The Ice Storm.

Nothing is known yet about what this episode will focus on, aside from the obvious implications that it could mark a cold front heading into Riverdale.

In total there will be 22 episodes in the brand new series.

Express.co.uk will update this article once each title is revealed.

Riverdale season 4 starts on October 9 on The CW and October 10 on Netflix.
