Neil Jones: Strictly 2019 pro branded 'a keeper' by partner Alex Scott in sweet video

Alex Scott, 34, called her Strictly Come Dancing 2019 partner Neil Jones, 37, “a keeper” during spin-off It Takes Two with Zoe Ball last night.

The duo appeared in Thursday evening’s dose of the sister show, revealing how their relationship has been during rehearsals.

“We’ve actually been alright, haven’t we?” Alex said.

“There’s been no arguments, there’s been no tantrums so far.”

“He’s a keeper!”

Alex went on to say she knew what dance she is most looking forward to doing while on the BBC show, leaving Neil looking a little worried.

“I’m looking forward to the Argentine tango,” she said.

“I’ve had a year off, being lazy, doing nothing, so I’m ready for it again,” she said.

“Ok, extra hours!” Neil joked.

They kicked off last week’s first live show in style performing the quick-step to Frank Sinatra’s I Get a Kick Out of You.

Head judge Shirley Ballas was first to comment, saying: “What a way to start the show with some snap, crackle and pop and that’s certainly what you brought for us today!”

“I think this girl could be a big scorer, don’t you?” Bruno Tonioli addressed the audience before giving feedback on Alex’s footwork: “Cover it up because you’re good!”

New judge Motsi Mabuse also praised the pair: “We just need to work on your presentation so that you know it’s a show, I’ve got to put it on,” she said.

“And then you’ve got the goods we need girl, you’re dangerous!”

Craig Revel Horwood had some criticisms: “I would have liked to see cleaner footwork.

“I thought the whole thing was a little haphazard,” he said, before concluding: “Your energy was absolute fantastic.”

The judges scored the pair 21, leaving them in the middle of the leaderboard , 11 points behind top scorers Kelvin Fletcher and Oti Mabuse with 32 points.

Neil has been part of the Strictly family since 2016, starring in the pro routines and appearing on It Takes Two.

But the red-head dancer had to wait four years before he was partnered with a celebrity contestant.

“As a British dancer I have grown up watching this amazing show, it is a massive honour,” he said about his main show dancing debut.

Shirley welcomed Neil to the ballroom as a pro partner.

“It was an amazing choreography and it’s so great to see you also on the show Neil. I appreciate your work, you are on fire!” she said to the first dance duo of the series.

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 continues tomorrow at 6:40pm on BBC One.
