Lucy Verasamy: ‘One to watch’ ITV weather star issues advice in UK forecast news

ITV weather star Lucy Verasamy, 38, revealed the weather will be relatively mild across the UK, but insisted some areas will have poorer weather conditions than others.

As part of her detailed report, she urged viewers to look out for rain and brisk winds in East and West regions this weekend.

Explaining further, she said: “Taking control of our weather as the week draws to a close, much of the rain working its way from West to East as we topple our way into the weekend.

“This low pressure will bring some notable rain and some brisk winds into the latter stages of Saturday and into the early hours of Sunday… one to watch.”

She added: “In the mean time, clear skies to end the day in the South and East, but further downpours for the rest of us, particularly across Northern and Western counties.”

Lucy went on to say: “You will be brave to leave work without the brolly here.”

Earlier this week, Lucy took to Twitter to mark the first day of Autumn.

Alongside a series of Autumn-themed emojis, she wrote: “Today marks nature’s first day of Autumn, it’s the #Equinox: day & night near equal in length.

“Both stay on the mild side this week at least,” she added.

Many of the star’s fans flocked to her post to comment.

One user wrote: “I’m thinking I will go into hibernation until spring… Don’t like the cold weather at all.”

“Thanks Lucy, another beautiful Autumn I hope,” a second added.

A third penned: “And all that wonderful wet stuff that makes Autumn the amazing season that it is.”

Last month, Lucy Verasamy issued a warning about weather apps, mostly used on mobile phones.

The presenter claimed the regularly used apps were “far from the truth” and often “misleading” about the forecast.

In view of her followers, she commented: “There’s a reason weather forecasters/meteorologists don’t use weather apps themselves: far from reliable & often misleading.”

The brunette beauty also urged fans not to be “fooled” by the rain predictions.

“And same with the [per cent] chance of rain: don’t be fooled – there’s no context,” she added.

Lucy then responded to various Twitter users who queried her post.

One user queried “Aren’t weather apps updated by meteorologists and weather forecasters?”

Lucy replied: “No. All automated/computer generated data.”
